- Stewart H. Steffey, Jr.
- Chairman & CEO
Nick, the founding shareholder of NBIC Holdings, Inc., has 35 years of insurance expertise, including the successful building of Liberty International Holdings, Inc. (a subsidiary of the Liberty Mutual Group), serving as founder, president and CEO from 1993 to 1998. He successfully revamped Reinsurance Australia Ltd., while serving as CEO in 1999 and 2000. Nick also worked for 15 years with CIGNA Corporation in various executive capacities and, before that, for 10 years with the Chubb Corporation. He currently serves on the boards of the Pawtucket Foundation, Memorial Hospital and the Pawtucket YMCA. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pace University and master’s degree in finance from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Michael transformed NBIC's enterprise technology platform by implementing Project APEX, a technical and operational competitive edge in the industry. Michael has more than 27 years of insurance industry experience in developing innovative IT solutions and teams that help drive business growth. Prior to joining Narragansett Bay Insurance Company, he was the CIO of Clarendon Insurance Group, Praetorian Financial Group and QBE Americas, and a member of both Hannover Re and QBE’s CIO team that directed global strategies. Previously Michael was CTO and partner at a software company that developed the world's first open-cry auction system for the NASDAQ, worked with KPMG Insurance Consulting, American International Underwriters, American Re-Insurance and Munich Re-Insurance. Michael holds a degree in data processing from City University of New York. He also is on the executive board of Junior Achievement and holds two patents.

- Julie Bowler
- Chief Underwriting Operations & Compliance Officer

Julie’s responsibilities include compliance, internal audit and governance, and strategic operations. Prior to joining Narragansett Bay Insurance Company, she was the Commissioner of Insurance for the Massachusetts Division of Insurance for five years. She has more than 15 years of regulatory and insurance experience. She held previous positions with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Bearing Point involving a U.S. AID funded project with the Egyptian Insurance Supervisory Authority. She serves as a director on the boards at the Senior Health Plan of Pennsylvania, Atlantic Charter Insurance Company, and RTI Biologics, Inc. She holds bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Assumption College; a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Dallas; a doctoral candidate in biomedical ethics from Georgetown University, and a master’s of business administration from the University of Massachusetts in Boston.

Kim brings more than 15 years of HR and Executive Leadership experience. Kim led a private consultant business, A Missing Link, for the past 10 years. She has held positions as the Senior HR Executive in organizations such as Lifespan, Hasbro, Beacon Mutual Insurance Company, Boston Beer Company, and Textron where she led organizational and development, talent management life cycles, succession planning strategies, and overall HR integration. Kim also believes in a strong academic foundation. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of RI, a Human Resource degree from Bryant University, and a Master’s Degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She is certified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Predictive Index Selection tools, and CCL’s Benchmarks 360 program. She served as an adjunct professor in Bryant University’s Executive Development Center and on the Board of Directors for Big Sisters of R.I.

Sean’s responsibilities include financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations. He provides leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of the company. Sean has more than 18 years of experience in the property and casualty industry related to strategic planning, financial management and reporting, actuarial practices and operational excellence. He previously held finance and operational roles with XL Capital, and was the chief financial officer of XL Re America. He also was a senior manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he specialized in the insurance industry practice assisting and auditing top tier public companies in accounting and reporting matters. Sean holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bryant College.

- Chief Risk and Underwriting Officer
Mark’s responsibilities include risk analytics, rate analytics, portfolio management, and reinsurance. He has more than 25 years of primary insurance company, catastrophe modeling and reinsurance broking experience. He previously led portfolio management initiatives as senior vice president of Marsh & McLennan’s Guy Carpenter subsidiary. He also served as senior vice president of risk analytics for Balboa Insurance Group, led enterprise risk management (ERM) initiative at Risk Management Solutions (RMS, Inc.), served as CFO and partial owner of Pacific Select Property Insurance Company (a California earthquake insurance provider), and as assistant treasury manager of USF&G/St. Paul. Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Towson State University, and a master’s degree in business administration in finance & investment analysis from The George Washington University. He also is a certified public accountant, and a chartered financial analyst.
